Paraphrases and transcriptions

Godowsky's prowess in pianistic transcriptions and arrangements is unmatched by any composer with the exception of Franz Liszt. His arrangements can be witty, delightful, or difficult, but they always respect the integrity of the original composition.

A detailed analysis of Godowsky's music is currently under construction. A few of the many highlights in this section would include: the Studies on Chopin's Etudes, the twelve Schubert songs, Saint-Saëns' Le cygne, and the Johann Strauss Kunstlerleben.

Works are listed by the original composer in alphabetical order. The publisher abbreviations are explained in the guide to publishers.
