: : L.S. : : I am writing an essay on Godowsky's Chopin paraphrases, concentrating on the typically Godowskian alterations/additions in harmony and counterpoint. Does anyone know of the existence of any technical literature on these paraphrases (or other Godowsky pieces) from the viewpoint of music theory? As far as I know these pieces are "terra incognita" in the theoretical literature. : : I send my kind regards to all other Godowsky-groupies. : : Bastiaan van der Waals, Holland. : There have, to my knowledge been two theses written: : The latter is very thorough and comprehensive. : Best wishes, Thank you very much for your reply. I already traced the Sachania-thesis and I'm trying to obtain it throug Inter Librarian Loan System. I didn't know the Jones-dissertation yet. I am unable to use the Iowa university library catalogue and I can't find it on the Doctoral Dissertations in Music-site. Is it a very recent dissertation? Is it a thesis or a dissertation? Could you give me some more bibliographical information? Kind regards, Bastiaan van der Waals.
