I noticed the same qualities when comparing Grante Brent
with Sherbakov in the Bach violin sonata arrangements. I find both arguments persuasive,
but do agree with your points on the delicate
balance and counterpoint of the Studies. It is an
integral component to the difficulty in these works, but it is something which some performers
seen to ignore to facilitate an ease in execution.
