First of all, thank you for bringing some (freely available) evidence to the table, the discussion seemed to become a little heated. With all due respect to the contributors of messages 220 - 226, I believe that G. D. Madge´s recordings may or may not be what people expect - assuming they were done in good faith and not for profit, they represent a remarkable effort to promote Godowsky´s music. Whether that has been entirely successful or not remains open to debate, of course.
While I´m not qualified to join the "pianistic" discourse by offering own performances, I do welcome your MP3 links as the only means of bringing the different interpretations into the open. I would also hope that Messrs Manildi and Taylor provide some more MP3´s for download - I´m sure that the copyright owners, i.e. the pianists themselves would not object to this type of publication if it serves an academic purpose.

From a listening perspective, allow me to add a subjective point of view: with reference to the comparison Studies vs. Triakontameron, perhaps the Chopin side of things should be seen as a distinct oeuvre from the "Viennese" type of works (except the three concert paraphrases on Strauss which offer a technical challenge similar to the studies). Two different mindsets indeed. Triakontameron, given its limited technical scope, clearly belongs to the Viennese category, as do "Walzermasken" or the "Waltz Poems". Would that be an acceptable hypothesis ?

By that same token, if you have performed rare piano works, it would be extremely kind to send MP3´s to Jan Terje Augestad who runs the Pianophilia page. Adding live sound to the (currently restricted) download list of scores would greatly enhance his pages, I think (www.geocities.com/jant_no).

Kind regards
Rolf von Roessing
