To anyone contemplating the purchase of any of the Dante CDs of Godowsky's music, all of which are played by Geoffrey Douglas Madge: it must be said, with all due respect, that Mr Madge's playing is totally inadequate, that neither technically nor musically is he equipped to do justice to Godowsky, and his recordings should be avoided. This is not just my opinion, but also that of many qualified Godowskyites who know that alternative recordings by Hamelin, Grante, Scherbakov, Prunyi and others are clearly to be preferred.
